About the event
Handel’s Messiah, the world’s favourite oratorio, bears a strong association with Christmas and with fundraising for good causes. True to these themes, local singers are invited to join in a performance from scratch under the baton of one of Guernsey’s rising musical stars, François Cloete. François is currently organ scholar at Merton College, Oxford. You can read more about François here.
This is a fundraising event in aid of the Choral Scholarship Fund of the Town Church. The fund facilitates the training of boys and girls in the church choir by Tom Lewis and Stephen Le Prevost, Director of Music at Town Church. Refreshments (prosecco and orange juice) will be available for which donations are invited.
Singers wishing to attend are asked to bring their copies of the vocal score with them otherwise to download the music from http://en.instr.scorser.com/CC/Voice/George+Frideric+Handel/Messiah.html We are still happy to accept singers wanting to sing the solo arias and recitatives in the Messiah. Anyone volunteering may contact either François Cloete or Richard de la Rue at rdelarue@suremail.gg and simply list the solos they may have tackled in the past.
Copies of the programme itemising the movements to be sung may be obtained from François Cloete or Richard de la Rue rdelarue@suremail.gg
This promises to be a spectacular event and all are most welcome to attend, singers and audience members alike!
